It’s always preferred that you call 911, but in Iowa if you can’t call, then text!
Currently, all carriers have taken the necessary steps to allow you to text 911 on your mobile phone in Iowa.
Current Text-to-911 Availability in Iowa
As of November 2023, all 99 of Iowa’s counties have 911 call centers capable of receiving text messages.
