PROCLAMATION OF DISASTER EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, On Saturday, April 14, 2012, severe storm systems moved across portions of Iowa; and
WHEREAS, These storm systems spawned severe weather producing tornadoes that had impacts to private and public property, including residences and businesses; and
WHEREAS, Local officials and residents impacted by this severe weather were in need of assistance to deal with the impacts of these storms; and
WHEREAS, on April 14, 2012, a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency for Fremont and Union counties was declared; and
WHEREAS, Surveys and reports forwarded by local officials in Fremont and Union Counties have now indicated that state assistance pursuant to Iowa Code 29C.20A is needed assist certain individuals and families adversely affected by the disaster who otherwise cannot be helped by other means of financial assistance.
NOW, THE NOW,THEREFORE I, Terry E. Branstad, Governor of the State of Iowa, authorize the Iowa Department of Human Services to render individual disaster assistance to eligible residents of Fremont and Union counties, the counties declared to have a state of disaster emergency, pursuant to Iowa Code 29C.20A.
